The Letz Play project invites women and girls out to play
computer games with and against one another at internet cafes.
Here they have the opportunity to engage recreationally with IT,
and gain experience on computers through fun, joint
experiences.
Letz Play starts up in March 2006 at the Boomtown internet cafe,
which is located in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Letz Play project
supports the international rating standard set by the PEGI rating
system, and therefore participants must be a minimum of 16
years of age to play.
It is free to participate in all Letz Play events.

How does Letz Play takes place?
Letz Play will be held four times with the final date culminating
in a larger event.
Women coaches are in charge of introducing
new games that you haven’t tried before. On the final day,
apart from being able to play, participants can sign-up for
tournaments and win prizes. Or you can also just hang out,
enter the draw of various prize giving lucky-dips, and enjoy the
live entertainment delivered by local female VJ’s and DJ’s.
Letz Play aims to:
- Participate in the development of girls and women’s IT
skills by playing recreational computer gaming
- Make women and girls visible in places where they, for
the most, are not represented
- Open up a space that provides the opportunity to create
new networks outside of educational and family
spaces
- Give women and girls the opportunity to play with
strategy, communication, leadership, and teamwork
through recreational IT-based activites
- Make net cafes interesting and accessible for women
and girls as an alternative space for recreation
Letz Play supports women’s and girls IT-competencies and
increases participants’ computer confidence.
This initiative
offers the participants an opportunity that they were not aware
they had!
Our vision is to hold Letz Play in several larger Danish cities;
the project is not a one time happening.
Project Letz Play is sponsored by the Danish Youth Council
